Our Story

We created The Spa Mask 

with you in mind!

The Spa Mask was conceptualized in July, 2020 after we became more personally impacted by the Coronavirus Pandemic

in South Florida.

We began to emerge from quarantine and quickly realized the need to adapt to the

"new normal" of living.

As we learned to live with safety in mind, The Spa Mask creator Rhonda experienced the challenges of staying safe while indulging in salon services. Holding her custom-made cloth facemask to her face, she hoped she would stay safe, yet keep the mask protected from hair dye, water, and scissors. And the concept was born: create a safe, strapless mask for public use!

 

To create The Spa Mask prototype, Rhonda sought the advice of fellow small-business owner/author and friend, Beth. Through Beth's support and expertise, the first strapless mask was manufactured. For prototype testing, she consulted another friend and front line healthcare provider, Stephanie, whose medical expertise enabled them to analyze the mask from a health and safety perspective.

Initial trials were impressive with positive reviews and excitement generated from individuals who were initially hesitant about the safety of going to a salon, and others who preferred a strap-free option. The team was empowered by the initial feedback and inspired by each other to provide community support and protection.

As conscientious women, we care about our communities, our families, and our future generations.

With that in mind, we are supporting Pandemic of Love, a grassroots, non-profit, mutual aid community of care, by donating 10% of Spa Mask purchases.
This movement, which started in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, helps those in need throughout the world by connecting people in need with patrons.

We have learned that there are various members of our community who are particularly medically vulnerable (e.g., individuals who desire additional protection due to immune system issues or undergoing active medical treatments such as chemotherapy) and/or have unique needs, including strapless mask options (e.g., individuals wearing hearing aids, eyeglasses, implantable hearing devices such as cochlear implants, or those with facial/ear deformities). In order to support these individuals within our community, we are actively seeking partnerships with other non-profit organizations to lend support and peace-of-mind. In addition to Pandemic of Love, we have joined forces with BRCA Strong to support women who are at risk for, or impacted by breast cancer.
